Our Roots

It started with a simple goal

In 1987, Joe Ellerd opened the doors to Prokill Pest Control with a small office on Hwy 3 in La Marque and a big vision for the community. Joe believed that professional pest control didn't have to be impersonal or overpriced. He instilled a philosophy in his sons that remains our North Star today: 100% customer satisfaction is the only goal. Through hard work and word-of-mouth, Joe built a reputation for honesty that turned neighbors into lifelong clients. Today, we carry that legacy forward, remembering the man who taught us that your word is your bond.

The Second Generation

Deep Roots, Expert Protection

Marc Ellerd didn’t just join the family business; he grew up in it. A 1987 graduate of La Marque High and a lifelong local, Marc stepped in to lead the Galveston and Harris County branch in 1993.

As a Licensed Texas Certified Applicator, Marc brings a high level of technical expertise to every job—from protecting our area’s most historic buildings from termite damage to keeping modern homes pest-free. When he’s not in the field, Marc is a proud family man, deeply invested in the community he has called home his entire life.

Family is at the heart of everything we do. Today, Marc and his wife, Michelle, are joined by their three children—Cory, Cortnee, and Caislee—who are learning the business from the ground up.
